Herpes Symptoms
Herpes occurs when there is skin-to-skin contact made with someone who has the virus. Herpes symptoms typically develop between two to twenty days after coming in contact with the virus. Symptoms can take longer than twenty days to show up and they can come and go without any set pattern. Outbreaks can occur once a year in some people or others may experience outbreaks more frequently.
Around 60% of those infected with the virus do not know that they have the virus because there are not any signs or symptoms of the virus present. The initial outbreak is most often the worst. Most people do not experience re occurrences but some can experience outbreaks for as long as four decades after the first outbreak.
The most common symptoms of herpes are several small sensitive red bumps that turn into fluid filled blisters that break and turn into painful sores that crust over and eventually heal. They generally last for several days and can be painful. Also usually there is a burning and/or tingling sensation felt.
Symptoms Herpes include fever, swollen glands, headache, muscle ache, lower back pain, flu-like symptoms and infection of the urethra which causes burning sensation during urination. Also some women have a discharge from the vagina and some men have a discharge from the penis.
In women sores typically occur in the areas of the vagina, buttocks, anus and cervix. In men sores appear on the scrotum, penis, anus thighs and buttocks. Sores usually last for four to seven days after the infection has occurred.
The majority of people diagnosed with herpes can expect to have several outbreaks within a year. These recurrences are generally not as long or severe as they the initial outbreak and over time they usually decreases in severity and frequency. But even after the sores have healed there may still be pain and discomfort felt in the genital area.
There are many factors that can trigger outbreaks such as illness, stress, menstruation, fatigue and energetic sexual intercourse. There is no cure for herpes but there are medications available that can help ease discomfort and lessen the length of a herpes outbreak.
Anyone who experiences any Vaginal Herpes symptoms should make an appointment with their doctor.
